Edward Korona Jr. proudly began his tenure as the 66th Chief of the Hicksville Fire Department, embodying a commitment to service that defined his life.
Born in East Meadow, New York, Edward moved to Hicksville in 1986 after marrying DeAnna, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. He cherished his daughters, Devin and Taylor, alongside a special bond with his parents, Edward and Florence.
Edward’s leadership journey began in 1988 with Hose Company 4, swiftly earning recognition for his skills. Selected by Chief LaNasa in 1989 as Grand Marshal and Chairman of the 70th Annual Labor Day Parade and Drill, he served with distinction. His contributions continued with roles such as Corresponding Secretary, and his dedication was pivotal to the department’s milestones, including co-authoring its history book.
A recipient of numerous Firematic and service awards, Edward’s impact extended beyond firefighting. His nine-year tenure as an Emergency Medical Technician and involvement in the Department’s hazmat team and Rescue Squad exemplified his unwavering dedication.
Edward Korona Jr.’s passing leaves a profound void in our hearts. We will honor his memory by supporting his family and carrying forward his legacy. Rest peacefully, Eddie—you will always be remembered.
